La Cava di Salustri Leonardo

Leonardo Salustri looks after the vineyards while his son Marco is responsible for the cellar. Leonardo loves the “wild” Maremma.

The Salustri vineyard in Tuscany is located around 30 kilometres to the south of Siena in the middle of the Appellation Montecucco DOC. The soil quality and the climate in the hills of Poggi del Sasso in the high Maremma offer ideal conditions for the production of high-quality Sangiovese wines.

The Salustr family, owners of the vineyard for three generations, are proud of the quality of their wines. They are produced according to ancient Tuscan tradition and strict organic working methods in the vineyard and the cellar. On the 160-hectare vineyard, the juxtaposition of vines, olive groves, woods, meadows and wild hedgerows already forms a sophisticated biodiversity system. The father Leonardo, as the vine master, and his son Marco, as the winemaker, make use of this unspoilt nature for their elevated objectives: “We are inspired by the new Delinat guidelines and we want to achieve the highest quality level of three snails,” they both agree.

Several tastefully furnished holiday flats are available at the vineyard for visitors and holiday guests. The proximity of the sea and of Monte Amiata with its nature reserves offer ideal conditions for excursions into the world of nature. A relaxing stay in one of Europe’s most beautiful and ancient cultivated landscapes is guaranteed.
