Merlot – mouth-filling flatterer
Merlot is the most widely cultivated grape variety in the Bordelais region. It plays an important role in many famous Bordeaux red wines together with Cabernet Sauvignon or Cabernet Franc. Merlot gives the Bordeaux a full-bodied, rounded, berry flavour. There are often fleeting notes reminiscent of cherries, plums or even chocolate.

Merlot – first class even as a single variety
A Merlot that is cultivated according to all the rules of the game is just as impressive in a single-variety wine. The effect is soft and juicy, and it displays impressive harmony and elegance. When matured in barriques, its complexity and depth are accentuated. A masterpiece of this genre is the Núria of Catalonian Delinat wine producer, Josep Maria Albet i Noya. Delinat wine producers also like to use Merlot to round off a cuvée. This variety can polish corners and edges and give body and balance to a red cuvée.
